"Media transfer file path format" doesn't seem to be working correctly

Phil Flores Mar 11, 2015 01:18AM CDT

I'm attempting to transfer music from my iPhone 6 to my PC (running Windows 7). I would like to create directories based on: \Genre\Artist\Album\Number - Track.

Per the instructions in the field "Media transfer file path format", I type: \$g\$a\$b\$n - $t

The problem is on copy, it only creates a file name and doesn't create the directory structure i.e.

Rock - The Band - First Album - 1 - First Song

This used to work on older versions of Sharepod i.e. 3.X

Thanks in advance for assistance!

Currently, that field is non-operational, so it will not change the format when transferring to a folder, but we hope to have it fixed soon where you can change that field and have it determine the folder structure.

When you export to a folder, all tracks will be put into a single folder, but you can at least get the Artist\Album folder format if you export directly to iTunes and then copy the folders out of the Music\iTunes\iTunes Media folder. So, I would recommend performing an Auto Transfer which will export everything to iTunes and then go into that folder above to copy out the Artist\Album folders to a directory of your choice. You could then delete all of the tracks in iTunes if you’d like and to avoid duplicates on your computer.

Hi Mike, I was wondering if this problem has been solved.
I want to save my music in a non-iTunes folder ("Music" folder on my desktop) as it follows:
Artist - Album - Track No. - Title

I tried many ways but it will always save it as:
Album - Artist - Title

Thanks for your help.

We are still working on adding preference to adjust the file and folder format when transferring to music to a folder, and I don’t yet have an ETA on when it will be an option. As described above, your best option is to transfer directly to iTunes and copy the files out of the iTunes Media folder. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause anyone.

Any update on this issue? I bought Sharepod today and I am disappointed that I cannot modify the output format. Is there an eta on the feature?

@Kayhan: I’ve reminded our developers about this to help try to get it on the fast track to be implemented, but I still don’t have any kind of ETA to give at the moment. For now, the best way to at least get the Artist/Album folder format and have the tracks named after only the track title and track list number is to export directly to iTunes and copy the folders out of the iTunes Media folder.

I still don’t have an update unfortunately. We are a very small software company, and our development team has been extremely busy working on other products or on other features of iExplorer. Thank you for everyone’s patience on this. I will ask our dev team again about adding it.
